ROB RUN Jail Guide: Time, Surrender & Server Swap
How jail time works in ROB RUN, when to surrender to police, what a bribe saves, and how the prison doubles as the server-transfer hub for playing with friends.
Quick answer. Jail time is a persistent stat in ROB RUN. You go to prison when police arrest you or when you surrender to the Feds, and the wipe converts your lost assets into more jail time. The prison is also the only place where you can switch servers to join a friend.
- Surrender keeps your equipped gear.
- Fighting usually costs you the bag and the fight.
- A bribe can save the whole bag if the officer accepts.
- Jail time survives the weekly wipe.
- Prison is the server-transfer hub.

What jail time actually is
Jail time is a counter on your character, not a temporary respawn timer. The game shows it in the prison UI, and community screenshots have shown values measured in decades after a bad cycle.
Two things add to it:
- Arrest. A police player catches you and sends you in.
- The wipe. The Federal Raid converts your lost plots, bases, weapons and cash into jail time and authority.
That second source is why the number can look absurd. You are not serving a sentence for one botched robbery; you are serving the accumulated value of everything the reset took from you.
Jail time is on the short list of things that carry over between wipes, alongside cosmetics, your name, tutorial progress and settings. It is a record, not a temporary penalty.
How you end up in prison
There are three routes:
- Arrested by police. An officer catches you alive rather than killing you.
- Surrender. You choose to give up instead of dying.
- Federal transfer. You go to the prison deliberately to change servers.
The first two are outcomes of a failed run. The third is a tool.
Fight, surrender or bribe
When police close in, you have three options. The right one depends on what is in your bag.
| Situation | Best option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bag is empty, gear is cheap | Surrender | You keep equipped gear and lose nothing valuable |
| Bag has a big cargo item | Bribe | The officer may accept and you keep the bag |
| Bag is full and no bribe money | Surrender | Dying loses the bag anyway, and you keep your gear |
| You have backup and cover | Fight | Only if you can win; a lost fight costs the bag |
The important distinction is bag versus equipped gear:
- Surrender confiscates the bag but lets you keep what you are wearing and carrying as equipment.
- Death in Looty Bay costs a criminal the inventory.
- A bribe can preserve the bag, but only if the officer accepts and you have money in the bank.
That last detail matters. Bribes are not paid from pocket cash. You need an account balance, which means the banking routine→ is part of your survival plan, not just your income plan.
Do not try to bribe with a bag full of cash you were about to bank. The money has to be in the bank before the encounter.
Surrendering to the Feds
"Surrender to Feds" is also the server-transfer procedure. The flow is:
- Open the global map.
- Select Prison.
- Choose Surrender to Feds.
- Once inside, switch to your friend's server.
- Send the invite from the new server.
This is the only supported way to move between servers to play with someone. The co-op guide→ covers the invite side; the jail side is the part players miss.
It costs you the trip and whatever you were carrying. Do not use the prison transfer with a full bag unless you are ready to lose it.
Jail time and the weekly wipe
Every seven days the Federal Raid resets plots, bases, weapons and cash. Those assets become jail time and authority rather than simply vanishing.
This creates a strange incentive: a player who ends the cycle rich also ends it with an enormous sentence. The sentence is cosmetic in the sense that it does not block the next cycle, but it is the visible record of how the last one went.
If you want to understand what survives and what does not, the wipe page→ has the full list.
Common jail mistakes
- Fighting when the bag is already lost. You lose the bag and the gear.
- Forgetting the bribe needs bank funds. Officers cannot take money you do not have on deposit.
- Using prison transfer with cargo. The transfer is not a free ride for loot.
- Treating jail time as a cooldown. It does not expire on a timer; it accumulates.
FAQ
Can you get out of jail in ROB RUN?
Jail time is a persistent record rather than a timed cooldown. The practical way out is the weekly wipe, which starts the next cycle; the accumulated sentence stays on the character.
What happens when you surrender to police?
Your bag is confiscated and you keep your equipped gear. If the officer accepts a bribe instead, you keep the bag.
How do you join a friend's server?
Use the global map, select Prison, choose Surrender to Feds, then switch to your friend's server inside the prison and send the invite.
Does jail time reset with the wipe?
No. Jail time is one of the values that carries over, along with cosmetics, name, tutorial progress and settings.
